This course provides the skills necessary to helm and manage a tender carrying passengers/guests/crew in daylight and darkness to and from the Yacht/mother ship. Created by the RYA in combination with the PYA (Professional Yachtsman Association) to focus on Superyacht Crew transferring guests.
Minimum age: 17
Duration: 2 days & 1 evening
Prior knowledge: Candidates should be competent to the standard of the RYA Powerboat level 2 course (coastal). It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid and VHF/SRC operators certificate

- Preparation for sea & pre-departure checks
- Passenger safety and comfort
- Day time pilotage
- Night time pilotage
- Emergency situations
- Associated theory
- Types of tender
- Legislation and guidance
- IRPCS (rules of the road)
- LSA (Life saving apparatus)
- Boat handling - incl. berthing & docking, Man Overboard recovery by day and night, operating at planing speed, boat control in waves, towing water toys etc
