Course description
The Oil Record Book - Part 1 course is a course that teaches you how to properly fill out the Oil Record Book Part 1 (ORB Part 1) for machinery space operations on board your vessel. The ORB Part 1 is a mandatory document that records all the oil-related activities and operations that take place in the engine room, such as oil transfers, discharges, consumption, filtering, etc. The ORB Part 1 must be completed in accordance with the MARPOL Annex I regulations and the IMO guidelines, as any errors, omissions, or falsifications can lead to serious penalties and legal consequences.

Course objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the purpose and importance of the Oil Record Book Part 1 (ORB Part 1) for machinery space operations on board your vessel, and the legal and environmental consequences of any errors, omissions, or falsifications
- Comply with the MARPOL Annex I regulations and the IMO MEPC.1/Circ.736/Rev.2 guidelines regarding the ORB Part 1, and know how to fill out the ORB Part 1 correctly and accurately for various oil-related activities and operations in the engine room
- Recognize the common mistakes and pitfalls that can occur when completing the ORB Part 1, and how to avoid or correct them
- Prepare for and handle any audits or inspections of the ORB Part 1 by the relevant authorities or parties, and know how to respond to any queries or discrepancies

Entry requirements
The course is for anyone who is involved in the machinery space operations on board a vessel, such as engine officers and crew members, who are responsible for carrying out the oil-related activities and operations in the engine room, and for filling out the ORB Part 1 correctly and accurately.
