Purpose:
The course is conducted in accordance with the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and skill as per Table A-II / 2 of STCW Convention 95 'and is based on the IMO Model 1.08 guidelines.
The course provides a real exercise in the use of radar to navigate and avoid collisions in enclosed waters with heavy traffic and is generally intended for applicants for certification as captain or manager on seagoing ships.
Description:
Those who have successfully completed this course will be able to successfully and effectively use radar in tight, limited navigable waters, identify potential hazards and make correct navigation and collision avoidance decisions based on radar monitoring and charting in accordance with the Radar Ordinance. collision avoidance at sea (COLREG).
They will be aware of the time needed to evaluate the development of a hazardous situation, on the basis of which they will decide and act appropriately and ensure that such action is appropriate and will not lead to further conflict with other ships. The ability to plan, organize and manage crew members and utilize all navigation information will also be achieved. Successfully completed courses will also provide an opportunity to respond, coordinate and conduct search and rescue operations.
