Any applicant who has successfully completed our Crisis Management & Human Behavior (MIDATL-138) course will satisfy the Crisis Management & Human Behavior training requirements of Table A-V/2 and Paragraph 3 of Section A-V/2; AND, the Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity training requirements of Paragraph 4 of Section A-V/2 of the STCW Code, As Amended 2010.

The course will provide trainees with techniques and protocols for managing movement of passengers under emergency conditions necessitating preparation to abandon ship. Training will be generic and should be supplemented with shipboard training to ensure “ship unique” policies/procedures are trained. The course meets the criteria for satisfaction of training requirements enumerated in Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping Section A-V/2 for competencies in Crisis Management and Human Behavior, including:

1. Ro-Ro passenger ships
A trainee successfully completing the training will be able to:

  1. Organize the safe movement of vehicles and passengers when embarking and disembarking.
  2. Control all elements of cargo safety and hull integrity.
  3. Monitor and control atmosphere in Ro-Ro cargo spaces.
  4. Organize shipboard emergency procedures.
  5. Optimize use of resources.
  6. Control response to emergencies.
  7. Control passengers and other personnel during emergency situations.
  8. Establish and maintain effective communications.

2. Passenger ships other than Ro-Ro passenger ships
A trainee successfully completing the training will be able to:

  1. Organize the safe movement of passengers when embarking and disembarking.
  2. Organize shipboard emergency procedures.
  3. Optimize use of resources.
  4. Control response to emergencies.
  5. Control passengers and other personnel during emergency situations.
  6. Establish and maintain effective communications.
