Junior Steward/ess

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Have good base skills and willingness to learn good housekeeping practice which involves cleaning of cabins, common areas, guest’s cabins, bed linen, towel.

• Has due care and attention to understand and values expensive items that are on board; protecting, maintaining, and caring for valuable interior fixtures, fittings and surfaces, such as artwork, silks, china, crystal, linens, fine woodwork, and marbles.

• Listens and respects the vessel’s standard operating procedures at all times.

• Reports damages and breakages clearly and promptly.

• Has a healthy respect for good inventory practices.

• Gives a lot of effort in teamwork and camaraderie towards all crew.

• They perform the Laundry for the crew, linen, towels and uniforms when required (relief after training).

• Knowledgeable in the use and care of all laundry equipment (Helpful but not a requirement as training will be provided).

• Communicates with the Laundry Master any issues regarding the laundry.

• Ensures fridges and snacks cupboards always remain stocked.

• Monitors and controls crew mess items and stock.

• Orders crew snacks and beverages and submits it to the Head Chef cc’d the Head Housekeeper.

Attributes and qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively in English is a must.

• Cheerful personality, hosting skills, works well with others, pro-active, quick-to-learn, open minded.

• Presentable professional appearance.

• Extra advanced languages skills is a bonus.

• Computer literate is helpful but not mandatory.
