Position: Private In-House Chef
Location: Brighton, Melbourne
Start Date: 14th November (on or before for the right candidate)
Reports to: Principal (Mrs.)
Qualifications: Culinary trained across broad cuisines (will offer Korean BBQ & Japanese BBQ courses)
Type: Full-Time, permanent
Compensation: $$ DOE + Benefits; private health insurance and discretionary annual bonus based on the Executive Chef’s performance.

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Private In-House Chef. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating daily meals tailored to the preferences and dietary requirements of the family and preparing meals for events and business meetings maintaining the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness and organization. Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation: Cook high-quality, nutritional and diverse meals (lunch, dinner and snacks) for the family and occasional guests.
  • Events and Entertaining: Plan and prepare meals for family gatherings, weekends and special events, ensuring presentation and timing are impeccable.
  • Ingredient Sourcing: Shop for and source the best quality ingredients, keeping track of inventory and liaising with suppliers or local markets.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Ensure the kitchen is always clean, organized, and sanitized. Oversee proper food storage and kitchen hygiene standards.
  • Meal Serving: Serve meals to the family as required and maintain a well-organized meal schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: previous experience as a private chef on yachts or private households is advantageous, restaurant chef, or in a similar high-end culinary role.
  • Culinary Training: Formal culinary education is highly preferred with experience in broad range of cuisines: Korean, Japanese and Russian.
  • Knowledge of Cuisine: Broad knowledge of various cuisines, including but not limited to Mediterranean, Asian, French, Italian, and other international styles.
  • Dietary Expertise: Ability to create dishes that cater to a range of dietary preferences and needs, such as gluten-free, low-carb and religious conscious restricted meals.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing schedules, preferences, and last-minute requests.
  • Discretion and Professionalism: Must maintain the utmost discretion and professionalism at all times, respecting the family’s privacy.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, from menu planning to food presentation.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to liaise with the family, staff, and suppliers as needed.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required for sourcing ingredients or running errands.

Schedule:

•      Daily: Start at 10am

•      Lunches: everyday (Mr has lunch delivered to the office at 12.30pm, Mrs has lunch at home. 2 x children’s school lunches).

•      Dinner: Service on Monday and Friday nights.

•      Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Dinner ready by 6/6:30 p.m., with the kitchen cleaned and wrapped up by 7pm.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
