Chief Engineer, Y3 or better needed for a 46 meter private/charter yacht.

MTU M90 4,000 series 16V 3,650HP, which means 5,440KW all together. Currently located in Savannah for 6 to 7 months shipyard period (paint job, teak deck replacement, deck layout modification, Interior design modification, Bridge & AV/IT upgrade...). Rotation position with salary between $7,000 and $9,000 over 12 months depending on qualification & experience. 170 days leave per year, which will result in 10 weeks on / 10 weeks off, with the transportation days counted as working days. Annual bonus at the owner’s discretion according to performance. The boat will operate dual season on both sides of the Atlantic ocean, doing crossing on its own bottom. It will be registered commercially to charter. The aim is to make it a successful charter boat. The boat has no ECR, but a nice desk in the engineer’s cabin, which is not shared. Operate with 9 crew at the time, so the second engineer is busier with deck operation than engineering support. Dayworkers will be provided during shipyard period. When on duty working 7 days/week with less hours during the weekends, depending on the needs. The chief engineer will share the weekend watch duties with the chief officers which are also on full rotation.  

Candidate profile:

Experienced as chief engineer on vessels of similar size. Minimum Y3 or MN III/2 ticket. US foreigner with B1/B2 preference. ENG1 & STCW10 updated. Hands on. Comfortable with deck operation during maneuvers, especially with anchors and windlasses. Familiar operating with a mini ISM system. Available within maximum 2 weeks time, but the soonest the best. Calm, focus, organized, clean, friendly and sober. Alcohol and illegal drugs are forbidden on board. Coming back under the effect of alcohol can lead to immediate dismissal. Should not be looking at the hours when on duty, the job is finished when the objectives have been reached.

Certificates and Qualifications:

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
