A unique opportunity exists for an experienced stewardess professional to join an established team of staff in servicing and helping maintain a private family residence, based in Melbourne’s southeast.

As the house 2IC, and reporting to the House Manager, you will cover and work across all facets of the residence, with a particular focus and management of food and beverage service and events.

Extensive hospitality and front of house experience are essential to the success of this role, including silver service protocol knowledge. A broad understanding of cooking and food preparation is also highly desirable. (Residence employs permanent chef)

The Assistant House Manager will work within an interior team of 6.

The role core hours will be Monday – Friday 9am -5pm, but will differ dependent on family events.

Weekend events do happen where the AHM will be required, roughly once to twice a month, pending if the family are in country


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Co-manage all household functional management including contractors, inventory management, maintenance and repairs. For example, directing cleaners and tradesmen, household item restocking and ensuring the home is tidy and always organised.
• Professional support including email and phone communication with company employees and business partners.
• Co-managing staff scheduling and training
• Co-managing household Inventories (from linens to beverages, cleaning items to service wear)
• Support and co-management of daily food and beverage service and private household functions, including working closely with the house chef and/or external caterers.

Key skills and qualifications include:

• Experience working in a private residence or hospitality management
• Current police and working with children check (to be completed prior to employment)
• Have an open, unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving history
• Possess a high level of integrity, honesty and discretion
• Being familiar with technology
• The ability to follow instructions and respond quickly and accurately
• Be a team player. Confidently communicate both verbally and written.
• Time management skills - prioritising and multitasking
• Have a professional manner and presentation
• Required to work flexible hours, some weekends or evenings

Salary: Very competitive salary package , dependent on experience
